      Bonhoeffer vs. Hitler

Please watch this video before reading the text excerpts:

From the Bible, Romans 13 1-2

13 Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.

2 Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment.

      Romans  6-7

6 For because of this you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing.

7 Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed.

Thoughts by Dietric Bonhoeffer (Letters from Prison)

"We have for once learned to see the great events of the world history from below, from the perspective of the outcasts, the suspects, the maltreated - in short, from the perspective of those who suffer. Mere waiting and looking on is not Christian behavior. Christians are called to compassion and action."

"We are not to simply bandage the wounds of victims beneath the wheels of injustice, we are to drive a spoke into the wheel itself."

"Silence in the face of evil is itself evil...not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act."

      ----------------------------------------------------------------

Thoughts by Adolf Hitler on the church (Mein Kampf)

"Political parties have nothig to do with religious problems, as long as these are not alien to the nation, undermining the morals and ethics of the race, just as religion cannot be amalgamated (united) with the scheming (design) of political parties."

"Verily a man cannot serve two masters. And I consider the foundation or destruction of a religion far greater than the foundation or destruction of a state, let alone a party."
